Known for her big hair and big voice, Jess started her artist journey as a teenager listening to powerful female voices including Whitney Houston and Ella Fitzgerald. She honed her writing skills whilst studying English Literature at Oxford University, where she also became well-known for promoting women across the student music scene. She continues to champion women in her band and creative team.
Having released a string of singles in 2020 Jess has received support from BBC Radio 6Music, BBC Introducing & Amazing Radio. Featuring jazzy melodies, soulful pop choruses and funk-fuelled brass and bass, the arrangements are crafted by Fitz and producer Tony McHugh, and mastered by Stuart Hawkes at Metropolis Studios (Amy Winehouse, Stormzy).
